EQRS for Emergency Situations

The EQRS is a mechanism that allows for medical personnel to easily remove a rider’s helmet during an emergency. It has a purpose-built ribbon that another person can pull to easily remove the helmet’s cheek pads. This way, removal of the helmet becomes easier. EQRS stands for Emergency Quick Release System.

CJ-3 Shield

CJ-3 shield is present on the EX-ZERO helmet’s inner shield. It minimizes distortion and provides a clear field of view. Its design is comparable to a bubble shield, which allows riders to wear eyeglasses or sunglasses together with the helmet.

Other benefits include protection against UVA and UVB, as well as a scratch-resistant coating.

AIM Exterior Shell

For the exterior shell of the EX-ZERO, it’s made of AIM or Advanced Integrated Matrix. It’s composed of organic fiber and multiple layers of glass fiber. The biggest advantage of AIM is that it absorbs impact while offering a hard yet elastic shell.

Lining

For the interior of the SHOEI EX-ZERO, it’s made of EPS or expanded polystyrene. It features 3D Full Support Inner central padding and multiple layers of polyurethane.

The internal padding varies in density to provide optimal protection by having different impact absorption levels. With that, all areas of the helmet stay protected. The earpads are thicker to isolate external noise that usually distracts riders.

The interior lining of this helmet is completely removable for easy cleaning. The cheek pads feature the EQRS to make these easy to pull out in case of an emergency.

Fastening

To prevent the loose end from flapping, the EX-ZERO features a Double-D fastener with a plastic popper. The micrometric buckle is not only stylish, but it’s also easy to unbuckle even when wearing gloves.
